Gearbox chassis mount
After deciding to fit the new rubber/steel gearbox mount today , I found myself wishing I'd cut an inch hole in the middle of the steel 3'' x 7'' 3mm plate that is welded between the lower tunnel chassis tubes . It's simple enough to remove the rubber/steel mount bolts ( bloody awkward though) BUT getting at the central bolt/nut that holds the rubber mount onto the gearbox is nigh impossible You can jack up the gearbox to achieve a gap but getting onto bolt and nut tucked away in the alloy casing ----------------- I just couldn't manage. Needs to go on a ramp so as to cut a hole through under the central bolt plus someone else with a screw driver poked through the inspection hole in the tunnel side( no room for a spanner). A better solution would be to cut out most of the steel mount then drill/bolt a new piece onto the ledges left at the sides . Best done at the design stage
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !
