Eelmoor

Post by stylussprinter »

I wasn't ever intending to enter Eelmoor again after my very expensive argument with a tree there in 2007 . Changed my mind after the 6R4 beat me at Odiham  First look at class 13 saw only me and the 6R4 untill yesterday when something called a Warrior Indy 6.7lt 4x4 entered
Not dead sure what this beast is but I think it's an off road racer , obviously with silly power
I guess they'll both love it to be wet , strangely I'd like it dry to avoid a repeat plus I haven't been there for 4 yrs . Best ever there for me was 2005 at 54.79sec's ----- doubt I'll manage that though :)
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Today was wet Tarmac to start untill around 10-am when the sun came out drying the track beautifully by lunch time. My tentitive first practice was 61 sec's then 56. ?? Sec's . My first timed run ended up the quickest of 4 at 54.9sec's . The others were all 55.3's to 55.7's from memory. At lunchtime I was 2nd fastest overall but ended the day at 4th overall and winning my class over the 6R4 and 6.9lt beastie . Matt will likely come up with the actual times later .
So a great day and a very lucky day weather wise , with past history in mind  Ive been too scared to try Eelmoor since 2007 and it's £ cost :!: My gremlins have subsided now :P
This score might just seal my class Championship for me too :?:

Forgot to say that FTD was 53sec's dead by a much modified Skyliner then Tom Cauldecott in his Westy followed by an awesome MGB on slicks with 400bhp very well driven ------ plus me 4th 8)

Here are the actual times as opposed to my memory
FTD 53sec's Skyliner
53.11sec's Tom Caldecott Westy
54.61sec's Stuart Gilbert MGB 400 bhp
54.9sec's Stylus :P
Then the two in my class.
56sec's Warrior Indy 6.9lt
56.73sec's MG 6R4

You can see I was not as far behind the MGB 400bhp as I'd thought so just 0.29sec off third overall.

A report on this website plus photos of many including my Stylus , comments about the length of time I've been on this Planet but quite complementary

There was also a guy who's name I've forgotten who journo's for Speed Scene , the sprint and hillclimb magazine ---- can't recall what I said to him though but he was jotting down on a pad as we chatted

I bought one '' blue seat '' on offer here a few weeks ago ready for improving secrurity for the next intrepid passenger on a test day . The rollover bar restricts positioning the seat right to the back though due to it's angle , also the harness eyes at the side and tunnel stop the seat sitting on the floorpan. Looks like some fibreglass mod's will be required to fit the harnesses through the seat sides and at the top. Even so it will still be more comfortable than foam with no head resting area :P
