Have you fitted the FIA dry break on the fuel line yet? If not, its something for you to do this weekend.
No I haven't made any mod's regarding circuit racing as yet. Money's going through my fingers pretty quickly right now then there's the ' paint ' If there are too many required mod's then it's out for me , my car's a bank on 4 wheels as it is  I'm not prepared to undo the mod's already in place during the last few years .

I think you'l find its a requirment for sprints & hill climbs as your not in a roadgoing class.

I can't say definately . My body was ordered in October 2008 , coming Feb' and have just had it. Duffee wont promise Tim any date , never did even when SSC was operating.

Can't see Tim driving down there to pick them up -- hardley worth it. He has a body ordered now for himself so will pick the other items up when he says that's ready , I would think.

Weeks :?: :?: :?: maybe  sorry

With Tim's help the D's are fitted , approximate shape cut/needs fettling for a nice fit and the bonnet is bonded in . Very tricky doing a flip onto a broken front end NOT as easy as marking and cutting a whole body already fitted .Mine got cut through both old/new overlapping pieces and it's a lightweight , just 3mm thick  so doesn't easily follow the shape of the original curves. I'll get there gradually but was greatful for the fast start  The bonnet piece weighed 3lbs against the original at 10lbs :o so it will be interesting the see what the final weight saving is --- I'm guessing around 8kgs  and right over the front wheels :)

You can see from the pic' that there were more supervisors than laminators  no names

Been busy rubbing down all the laminated areas just so's I could get glass shards in my fingers :x It's all tidied up now , ' D ' s glued in on the outside (inside got glassed :( ) and the shutting edge corners rubbed back but there'll be a lot of making up at the drivers side for it to shut even half tidy  The existing body side is cut too low plus the vents that used to be there were in the line of cutting. I wanted to cut it back a little more and lower , in line with the door bottom :( but I wasn't holding the grinder

The shutting edges that Tim brought to glass in are good and strengthen it up but due to the curvature and thickness of my existing body compared to the mouldings , the ledge varies in depth . Of course , the thin flip means it'll have to be built up too or it wont sit flush. Once I've made some alloy shutting edges for the bottom sides I'll fit zeus fasteners . The holes have been cut and bonnet pins trial fitted. The glassing in of the bonnet means there's a water channel all around it so I've drilled a very large hole at the front bottom centre . I may fill the gap but at the moment I'm thinking not to  ---- weight  I'll worry about the water draining onto the pedal box / battery later. Possibly drill a large hole then sikaflex a tube underneath to redirect it

As it's so very thin it flexes easily so will glue two strips about 300mm x 75mm on edge from each ' D ' piece to the bonnet channel . Tim does that as standard apparently but my original body didn't get them but then it's damn thick

The flip itself opens and stays up on it's own but I had to cut two little ' U ' shape inlets for it to pass the ' A ' frame . Overall I'm pleased with the frame design . It opens so that the sides are 50mm in front of the front chassis rail and the nose is 120mm off the ground . With my chassis height of 90mm , that's bloody good so there will easily be room for the timing strut when it's fitted and it'll still not touch the ground :D

Can't believe how much dust got around the chassis and engine bay even though it got sheeted over --- all dusted now , till the next rubbing down

Spent last Friday then Tuesday and today sorting a few '' gap '' problems . Thank goodness I fitted spacers each side of the hinge because it allowed me to grind off one side and washer the other to shift the location 1.5mm towards the passenger side. Then because I'd used rodends for hinging I was able to lift one side and drop the other which all together made a far better shut fitting so I wont need to glass up so much at the bottom edges.
Being a VERY thin body it flexes a lot so I've taken it off again to strengthen those areas in case it set in the wrong position --- you could easily push it with your finger in the open position so it was difficult to know where to fix the strengtheners  Each night I've jammed 50mm wood blocks between the new and old body sides , to stretch the new sides which has worked well and now almost sit inline when closed
The strengtheners are first fix so will glue in the rest and 50mm angles to link with the bonnet gutter tomorrow after it's set ----- it's just so easy working with carbon and glue , no mess :D
I've also cut out 20mm from the arches ready for flaring out and 30mm from in front of the wheels --- something you've got to do if you use non standard wheels/tyres.
Gradually getting there :)

Glued in now but not at 90 degrees . Seemed to make more sense going forward as far as possible because the flex is mainly just in front of the gutter

After it was set , it still flexed slightly because the long side pieces spread apart so have put in 90 degree pieces too

Sat 18th .Refitted it this morning and it's much stiffer , making it easier to adjust the shut/fit . Ground a little from under the gutter above my air box plus enlarged the slots for the bonnet pins which allowed it to move/shut closer to the screen. All starting to come together now so I'll be starting work on the bottom shut surfaces soon :)
