Steering Wheel Bosses

Post by whiterabbit »

Hi all

Ive got a good steering wheel and need a boss kit to go with it .

Does anyone know if all 6-screw steering wheels have the same (70mm) p.c.d.?

Does anyone know if the Ford tapered hex steering shaft in the Sierra is a standard across the model range ?

Thanks in anticipation,

Steve.

Wheel Bosses

Post by MattD »

Hi Steve

Pretty sure there are small differences in PCD, certainly older Mountney wheels are different to the Momo, Sparco, Omp.
Think the italian stuff is interchangeable, but can't be sure.

>>UPDATED- Momo/Sparco are 2 3/4", Nardi/Personal/BOSS are 2 7/8”

Then you get Motolita, some which fit OEM hubs like Jag or AC Cobra, or Motolita's own.

Think a Sierra hub is a Sierra hub though, can't be many types.
Might be a coarse & fine spline, anybody else know ??

I know my OMP Hub & wheel went straight on (Escort column), no probs, but did bring the wheel rim closer to me.
You also might need to think about how the indicator cancelling works, the escort has a plastic sleeve that fits into a keyway on the rear on the hub.

Cheers

Matt
