Has anyone adapted alternative steering colums and colum switches into their stylus other than the standard mini/ford stuff.
I really dislike the ford switch gear and have recently broken a vw corrado so was wandering about putting this in my RT. In principal it's very simple and just involves adaptation of the steering UJ and mocking up some slightly different mounts.
Anyone any other thoughts on where i'm likely to run into problems?
I don't use any column swithes , they're all on the dash which avoids the '' kit car look '' . It doesn't really matter which one you use apart from weight considerations and connecting to a '' rack '' .

I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ ! Alfa Red 159 2.4 jtdm ti 260bhp 365lbft / BilsteinB12 + Adjustable Powerflex camber/castor bushes. Red STYLUS 2lt zetec 231bhp 185lbft Dunnell . RED 1972 Alfa 2lt GTAm replica 170bhp.
Only problem I can think of is that it's too short as most FWD cars have the rack between the engine and bulkhead, so the column is short and makes a bend pretty quickly. Other than that I think it should work.
you may have issues when it comes to wiring the switches up. it will be possible but i know the car uses a ford wiring loom so the instructions with that will have to be adapted to suit your switches. i can't see it being vastly different though. just something to watch out for!
