replacement front uprights

Post by tony »

hi everyone
I am new to the forum so please be patient
I read on one of the posting that someone had a raceleda uprights snap and they had billet ones made instead.
I have also had a raceleda upright break(it did get a helping hand from the hairpin wall at Mallory)
however I have read of three cases of these uprights breaking in use and as I race I dont fancy the outcome.
I was wondering if the billet uprights are available and if so a contact name or number would help.

Thanks Tony

His name is Andy Silman who's an engineer by trade and his father's an ex-Castrol research and bike racing man . Between them there's a ' bucket ' of knowledge of set up , engine building and successful driving in competition . Andy's bloody quick , whoever's car he's in  I beat him in the championship on points but never did better than 0.5 sec's behind him on track  We traded petrol and tyres on track over 5 seasons , sometimes with him camping in my garden after one event before the next on the following day ----- albiet with a few beers to send us to sleep

I'll be talking to him in the next few weeks , if he answers his phone  , so PM me with your phone and email and I'll tell him of your interest . He uses aircraft spec' alloy plus has upgraded some points he considers weak  The steering arms are CNC billet steel as are the stub axles which have a locating peg to slip into the upright face.
Rob.(his website's not finished yet  )

I had noticed this company a while ago - I was more interested with the rear uprights for my R1ot.

I sent the link to Jeremy Philips back in August, the company has stopped trading, but may produce batches as they have all the tooling etc.

It could be a source for front uprights also and may be worth investigating.

These aren't the same Kev but they are the right geometry so it's a matter of discussion with John Bridge to enable calipers , steering arms to fit. He's a really nice guy. This is where I bought my airbox blank to modify for the Stylus at £150. No idea what price the uprights though
