Re: Stylus Units Sold

I think Mine Was 990065 - sold it to Phil (ned) in May of this year I had the "chassis number is too short issue" so I believe the number became SBATSSC990065 All the documentation went with the car so I can't confirm. Anyway I'm still having fun in TVR land (No regrets  ) just droppe...

Re: new owner

Hi Phil, She's obviously still annoyed I sold her  Blowing fuse could be an intermittent short behind the aux gauges in the centre of the dash, as you will have noticed its a bit tight in there and I had that area in bits to change the bulbs in the three Aux gauges just before I sold her. If ...

Stylus SOLD

Well It finally happened :( Despite the fuel tank springing a leak on the way to Stoneleigh the Stylus only managed 2 hours at the show ground before being driven another 150 odd miles to it's new home (I don't think it ever did 300+ miles in a day ?). Very mixed emotions from my side as was glad to...

Moving on !

Hi All, Well after saying that I would never part with the Stylus and then having a few wobbles a few years back the decision has now been sealed. After associating with the TVR car club for a year or so the attraction of the V8 rumble has eventually got the better of me so I've taken advantage of t...

Re: SVA Test Failure

Re : Roll bar, Are they talking about the stays that used to go through the boot floor and just "sit" on the chassis - Rubbish photo http://www.number69.net/stylus/sml_images/roll%20bar.jpg ? In which case mine failed for the same reason, I drilled a 8mm hole through the chassis & the ...

Re: Firefox / Linux file upload problem

Hi Werner, I uploaded the same file using my XP machine so the file must be OK. Strange thing is that when using the "eee" to upload a file that was too big I got the error message about the file size, i then resized the image and tried again, then when the "upload in process" bo...

7th MOT Passed with flying colours.

Had my ( sorry the car ) had it's 7th MOT on Saturday, once again no problems other than the tester commented that I should fit an adjustable drivers seat so he can go for a road test, apparently there is some new law that states if testing a sports car on a sunny day the tester must take it for a t...

Re: Springs - Again !

Hmmm, Interesting ! I had problems with the front wishbones, top ones jammed on their bearings and the lower ones ate the ball joint rubbers, Pete sorted out the top arms but used the "no one else has complained" excuse on the bottom ones (maybe no one else had Sierra Uprights ?) Dave at F...

Re: Springs - Again !

Sorry Werner, Fibroform was the company who made the Chassis for SSC in the late 90's and early 00's, they also made parts for Midtec, Ginetta and several other companies. The owner of fibroform was actually much more helpful than Pete and have the advantage of being 25 miles from where I live ! Sor...

Re: Springs - Again !

Hi Werner, Front's are 8", looking at the shocks I reckon I could have used 7" and wound the spring platforms up by 20mm or so. Anyway it's a vast improvement and at least the front tyres miss the headlight shells ! P.S. This is a 1999 chassis with the "Fibroform" front rocker ar...

Re: Springs - Again !

A Bit of an update : The car was put back together on Wednesday, the front springs are a little too long so I hope the ride height will drop a bit as the springs settle as the spring platforms are at the lower limit so I can't go any lower The rear still needs to come up a little to get the required...

Re: Springs - Again !

So After a day up to my elbows in EP90, Bent Axle shafts and dodgy diff's... The shocks fitted where actually 12" with 8" springs, I've now transferred the front shocks & springs to the back, taken off the "toy" 130 Lb/in springs and placed an order with Rally design for some...

Re: Springs - Again !

Cheers Alex,

Thanks for the info, Looking at the weather forecast Bank Holiday Monday is going to be a garage day so Hopefully i should be able to swap the current springs and make some measurements.

P.S. I know what you mean about being busy, I've not been on here for at least 6 months !
